In memory of Romulo Castro, 1934-2021

The following is adapted from an obituary published on Legacy.com:
Romulo Peralta Castro lived a life dedicated to his faith and family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Romme was born in Manila, Philippines, on September 6, 1934. He was the second youngest of seven siblings born to Jose Castro Sr. and Francisca Dancel. Romme graduated from Mapua Institute of Technology where he earned his degree in electrical engineering. He worked as an office engineer for the U.S. Naval Construction Office at Clark Air Base. While working at Clark Air Base, he met the love of his life, Carmelita Estores. They married at Pope Pius XII Church in Manila in 1970. Their daughters, Rachelle and Ruth Ann, were born in Quezon City, Philippines. The family emigrated to the United States in 1976. They purchased their first home in South San Francisco, where they lived for 23 years.

Romme worked at SLAC in Menlo Park, California, as an electrical designer in the High Energy Physics Department from 1976 to 1996. He enjoyed his years working at Stanford and was proud of his work.

In 2000, he moved to Vallejo where he enjoyed the peace and serenity of retirement. Romme was active in the Salinians of Northern California and served as president 2004-2005 during the 25th Silver Anniversary of the association. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He loved going to church and enjoyed traveling the world with Carmelita.

On May 13, 2021, Romme passed away peacefully. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carmelita Castro; his eldest daughter, Rachelle Rheault and son-in-law Anthony Rheault; and his youngest daughter, Ruth Ann Castro and son-in-law James Jacobson. He has three wonderful grandchildren, Sophia, Logan and Hazel.
